Second Life (SL) is a virtual world developed by Linden Lab launched on
June 23, 2003, and is accessible on the Internet. A free client program called the Viewer enables its users, called Residents, to interact with each other through avatars. Residents can explore, meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade virtual property and services with one another, or travel throughout the world (which residents refer to as "the grid").

Second Life has an internal currency, the Linden dollar (L$) (which is traded with real currency). L$ can be used to buy, sell, rent or trade land or goods and services with other users. Virtual goods include buildings, vehicles, devices of all kinds, animations, clothing, skin, hair, jewelry, flora and fauna, and works of art. Services include "camping", wage labor, business management, entertainment and custom content creation

Second Life is used as a platform for "education" by many institutions, such as colleges, universities, libraries and government entities.
Residents express themselves creatively, sexually, emotionally ect, through virtual world actions and adaptations of art exhibits, live music, live theater ect.

Second Life does not enforce any standards of role-play or suspension of disbelief. However, many users do choose to role-play to some extent. Many users are unclear as to what level of participation is required or expected which can lead to some deliberate exploitation of this confusion to take advantage of users.

Real Talk, I know a friend who was sucked into 2nd life, toward the end, she said the illuminati were going to exault her into some kind of angel, no lie, she spend 3 years on this system and lost 1/2 a million in real money. She no longer took showers or handled real life business. She swore she was going to be transformed into some ultra rich illuminati. Somebody got in? her mind, played hr and robbed her..

SL can be an ...
SL can be an enjoyable place to explore with endless creative possibilities for it's users. Although parts of the clip reports the sexually charged escort services & sadistic concepts of potential pedophile fantasies SL does offer other activities. There is a Dark side SL however one is free to avoid such activity. From visiting art museums to exploring recreations of RL(Real Life) locations such as? the Taj Mahal SL does offer other virtual experiences.
